And so, we come to the final curtain for Don “The Dragon” Wilson’s famous fighting franchise, and, last but certainly not least, it’s time for the series to be reviewed here on this very site! The past has indeed caught up to the hero once and is on the run with his teenage son. Can “The Dragon” vanquish his enemies with the expected ease or will he have to take the hard way out…as in Bloodfist VIII: Hard Way Out? So let’s find out in this edition of No Surrender Cinema!

As I have mentioned in my previous reviews of the Bloodfist entries, Bloodfist III: Forced To Fight introduced a new character to beats, each having their own self-contained stories – Wilson. This time, Wilson happens to be Rick Cowan, a mathematics teacher at highschool with some superb mid-90s skater hair that would place him bang in the center of Airborne. Additionally, Rick has a son Chris (actually 24 year old actor John Patrick White) who is very much at the moment of his life when he is defiant – coming home late and even electrocuting some of his classmates.

Bloodfist VIII: Trained to Kill (although it was eventually re-titled Bloodfist VIII: Hard Way Out) is an action movie made in 1996, produced in the United States and directed by Rick Jacobson. The film stars Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, John Patrick White, Jillian McWhirter, and Warren Burton, and was scripted by Alex Simon. It is the last title in the series of movies called Bloodfist and the only one to star actor Don “The Dragon” Wilson.

Dwelling on his wife’s recent demise, Rick Cowan (Don “The Dragon” Wilson) is a school teacher who leads a pretty mundane life to say the least as he has a troublesome teenage son Chris (John Patrick White), who has no qualms in expressing his indifference towards his father.

Rick’s son has been dealing with some bullies in school and is at the thrag of handing over his expensive 90’s boom box to the bully. Just as it looks like he is ready to give in, the boom box turns out to be rigged with wires and the boy gets electrocuted. It is also the moment when assassins try to kill Rick and Chris simultaneously. All the conspiracies and killing stem from Rick’s tale when he had been an overseas CIA operative under the pseudonym George Macready. Rick’s wife had known but was killed by the bomb meant for Rick.
