Visher

Visher

Running just past an hour, Visher is a fairly short horror film. It is ideal for audiences since it doesn’t take a lot of time to watch. But with only two characters present and within limited environments, that’s a plus. Personally, I feel that had Visher has been a bit shorter in duration, it would have been more effective, as there is not much to the plot of the narrative. Efforts to extend the script length to 65 minutes tend to adversely affect the watching experience of the viewers. However, that being said, the concept is rather ingenious.

Visher is about an Indian Hari (Rahul Chakraborty) who is confined to a wheelchair and is based in Texas while surviving on the profession of an internet con man. The opening scenes suggest that Hari is not content with his job and that the nature of his profession is crossing ethical boundaries. He hangs up the phone after conning one client for twenty thousand dollars into thinking that his mother was on the other end of the line thanks to some technological manipulation. While looking at a small figure of Ganesh, an elephant-headed deity that he maintains on his desk, he apologizes for his actions and explains that he does it for the sake of his family who resides in his homeland.

It should be noted that he does not work alone. He is attached to some organizations and receives the details of the contact and financial profile of his victims from someone senior over the telephone.

From there, the scam is $20,000 for the second victim, this time, a woman by the name of Ruth (Mandy Lee Rubio), and her worth is $90,000. She is introduced to Hari by the man who claims to be one of her bank’s employees.

Hari, who is obviously and sad looking for love, manages to secure Ruth’s bank details after some sweet lies, waits for a moment, and, after looking up her address on a map, realizes there’s no competition and that they are indeed pretty close to each other. Then he calls her and explains that a virus has infected her computer and it is urgent for her to allow him to take control of it.

As for the ‘finding and removal of virus,” he heals clients in the hope of finding needed documents and just watching. The virus is stolen and computers and phones have become means of spying on her: all her personal files were images on the camera lenses. Almost every room in

his home can be monitored with the help of her security system. One way or another, this intrusion into personal life puts an end to him. In the house of Ruth, there is some soul. There is an entity within him mocking and abusing all that he performs, and it can see everything.

He has concerns for her safety and calls Ruth again. Here, while Ruth is talking to him, we can see that he is quite a bit stressed and is the target of some demanding manifestations and supernatural assaults where he takes measures that put his well-being in harm’s way.

Return of the Jason also depicts that even though people have to be careful with how they share sensitive information, it is quite easy to be a scammer. Both actors do their jobs well and Chakraborty makes a good of Hari even though he is creepy at times, a caring person also shows up.

As the drama moves along, the scenario which along the drama turns out to be hilarious and even comical in portraying the style of the characters on the show and as a disdain for the whole event as a viewer loses respect for him.

The finish of the film spoils the story with hints of the main character wanting to practice necrophilia suggesting that there may have been some satisfying conclusion and it is rather a relief to watch the closing credits rolling.

While Visher does have a few engaging moments and can be quite disturbing at times, it is a film that will be unimpressive to most viewers. However, for those wishing to learn more about the vishing process, Visher will probably assist them.
