The movie ‘Totally Baked’ is classified as a “Pot-U-Mentary” which is a mix between a movie and a documentary. In this case, it starts out as a documentary-style segmented imagery that is rather technical in nature. The term stoner indeed seems accurate, reflecting Lee Abbott’s attempt to make an amateur disposition. The primary narrative is about how an event high school debate reunion (wanted to see whoever thought of this culture) never took place. In reality, it turns out to be intercut with live stand-up performances of supposedly real and stoned comedians talking about the implications of smoking marijuana in their day-to-day lives.
One may find the novelty of new items on the screen rather remarkable and exciting while stoned. What are you high? Was I high when I watched this? Laughs to me were simple because the movie just felt like a jaded attempt at comedy. The generous puffs I was taking off the bud made me feel nothing out of the ordinary. All stoners understand the foreground in this and this buds for you. I know all of you who enjoy the sweet herbs are thinkers so this story was just preaching to the choir. Let me break it down so we do not get off the topic and forget where the lighter is.
The captain of the debate team is hosting a party for his old high school friends when the party is interrupted by two medical marijuana activists who have taken hostage the team. But wait! The captain’s ex wife steps in with a rather hot teenage daughter. The ex is found looking for a roach in the girl’s purse. Then she proceeds to light a cigar while the screen shows the annual deaths caused by cigarettes. When she takes a sip of her scotch, the screen is drawn with even more horrific facts about alcohol related deaths. To give even more context, during all this time, the “activists” managed to get the debate team baked off their minds and the ex husband now has no option but to explain to his stunning teenage daughter the reality of marijuana, which from my experience, many parents struggle with.
So, the truth of the matter is that throughout the rest of the film, the over-the-top and exaggerated acting that was on display was essential and even crucial to the weak and poorly formed storylines. In my view, the parts that were caricatures of the documentary films were kind of funny. The daughter who was so attractive did normal stuff much like the rest of the cast. In this movie, he was a lot of fun to watch. Real Geniuses and I love Jerry Hathaway, who plays the CEO of Fun Onions. He made me laugh the most in the movie and I liked the part where he claimed that smoking marijuana prevents people from being gay. That was really funny.
But unlike Abbott, whose opinion I respect, I highly agree with him that this movie will not help the legal aspect of the drug nor will the non stoners ever watch it. But, things are advancing at a much slower pace. Ultras-perception, which emerged from Just Us stoned folk in the movie, is probably the clearest way to explain what the next generation will do with societal functioning.
The primary intention of this film, just like any other, is to dissuade people from indulging in whatever puts their conscience at risk. I thank Mr. Abbott, along with the other crew members and actors for taking on what we perceive as taking a double standard stance against Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannabinol, but even with my utmost efforts, I fail to derive something useful from smoking bowls of Train Wreck. My guess is that this film would have horrified me even more had I witnessed it while being sober. The additional materials, oh goodness, nothing stood out. If you somehow come across it while browsing through the bargain bin at your local CVS, then perhaps you can purchase it but only if you happened to be in an altered mental state and convinced yourself that it was amazing. If you happen to flip through the channels of your cable TV and this movie catches your attention while you don’t really have anything else to do, by all means, give it a shot, but on the contrary, I’d highly recommend you not come to regret the decision by watching the movie.
