Space Cadet (2024)

Space Cadet

The premise is rather easy to assume, Legally Blonde in space, an unsophisticated airhead who does not engage in the superficial attitude of snobby types possessing the deluxe version of the resume, interestingly still demonstrates she has the right stuff. Then add a little of The King’s Man for action purpose and here we go. Emma Roberts is portraying the character Rex, who seems to be enjoying the Florida life too much going to the beach morning or night, catching sight of alligators, and being a bartender, which for her is nothing more than remembering a range of dozens of various intricacies of the orders, and sometimes looking into the distance at ps NASA’s rockets being fired off. Such moments used to be shared with her mother who has since died and who was able to contemplate her child being an astronaut while many rockets flew out to space.

After receiving a full scholarship to college, Rex graduated from high school but had to remain at home after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. After this, she stayed at home to help her father, Sam Robards. Somehow, a decade passed, At her college reunion, she does not understand what it may have been like if she went back to the same satisfied dreams, particularly after witnessing her class fellow Toddrick Spencer (Sebastián Yatra), currently a tech tycoon whose firm transports clients into the lower boundaries of space, brings such heavy funding.

Rex’s story demonstrates the distance Amanda had in mind. What Rex does not know, however, is that NASA has presumed her to be a qualified PhD and a pilot when she did get accepted. By the time she figures this out, she believes it is simply so because all of the properly accredited candidates have been expelled and she has completed her coursework. It is simply too late to tell them the facts.

That indeed contributes to rectifying all that’s mentioned. Let’s see if you can guess how these set-ups are resolved, Rex has adorably strange fellow astronaut candidates (who are unsparingly, and obnoxiously, called As-cans), plus one cruel blonde wannabe queen bee (Desi Lydic). Rex has a middle aged woman boss who is also an attractive nerd (Tom Hopper) with an accent that all the ladies adore. He seems however very boring and lacks personality. Rex’s deceit is exposed and she is sent back before the conclusive determinations take place, but there’s a twist when a turn of events happens… yes, you are correct.

There are some engaging aspects of the plot, Full synopsis colonoscopy jokes were thrown in for good measure, Gabrielle Union was vulgarly wasted as one of the NASA program leads, and of course, the impossibility of making As Can Happen was downright predictable. Rex specializes in struggle regardless of whether mechanical or human. The script offers her the opportunity to think of absurd solutions that are often practical as distinct from NASA’s agenda, or just downright defy the laws of physics however, they are a wonderful reminder of how practical and inventive she is. It’s entertaining to see her MacGyver-like engineering, but it’s the caring she extends to others that ultimately keeps us in her corner.
