A jaw-dropping ninja film loaded with action that includes everything you would picture in a deep fantasy, a masked villain with gold embellishments; a dark painted dragon sub-villain who brutally responds to flute sounds; while a nonchalant ninja springs into smoke of all kinds.
This movie is nuts in every sense. To begin with, it also addresses a fetissitic admiration towards both the female body and the male one, or more specifically, towards men. Alexander Lo is not one to waste the chance to take off his shirt and smear oil on his perfectly sculpted body. During some scenes where the camera is on him, his torso is thrust toward the lens and it paints a beautiful scenery of muscle porn. ‘Sifu’ is his mocking master who subjects him to torture with his sadistic training that includes being bound and fitted with ice blocks after drinking vinegar and getting brutally beaten with snake blood. The man plays an orphan boy named ‘Tiger’ who, worried about a neighboring Japanese whorehouse, is a pseudo-pimp for a female ran brothel.
The dojo’s with deep connections towards Tiger’s history show up and creates mayhem. Anything to cover the truth of his upbringing as a ninja master.
As the movie progresses towards the end, the viewer can notice the filmmakers are rather confused with the plot. The movie is an overkill with woman’s breasts and has those prolonged x rated scenes which are uncommon in traditional kung fu movies. Combine this with all the fat paced ninja action and the amount of activity in one place will leave you buzzing, awe inspiring indeed. But then there seems to be a pause, it is shocking to say the least. There are also two additional movies which we can all dare to watch.
This movie begins with a baby who’s being protected from a ruthless warrior who kills everyone he touches, even going as far as removing a man’s eyeballs. Additionally, there’s a credits scene that has ninjas fighting in front of a simple red background, which I could enjoy watching for an entire movie.
American Ninja’s Tiger (Alexander Lo Rei, in USA Ninja) works as a bouncer in a Hong Kong brothel when he hears news of another building with red doors popping up across town that serves as a trap. The Grand Master’s owner of that shack is searching for a fighter with a tattoo of a plum on his chest and that fighter is none other than Tiger himself, the Grand Master’s student.
There’s a scene in which The Master continues to slap Tiger on every single pressure point while yelling out the name of Drunken Master. It is obvious that he has seen it. He then goes on to order several of his men to beat Tiger with sticks, douse him in snake venom, and he even freezes him in a block of ice. He then makes him drink vinegar, claiming that it is training. It is baffling how these methods are meant to teach one combat skills; one can understand the ‘wax on and wax off’ teachings of Miyagi, but what good does this do for Tiger? Even worse is when Tiger requests a lesson related to fighting ninjas. The Master spins him an elaborate tale that is mostly an extended sex scene.
The Master is a ninja as well; he has the face of a baby mask, and later fights The Devil Mask, who can transform into a tornado while being controlled by The Grand Master using a flute.
Tiger is adored by a girl named Sakkura, and it seems that The Devil Mask was The Master’s brother. A lot is happening at once and no doubt might leave you confused, but worry not. There are three more additions to the saga that are bound to leave your head spinning.
