
The story is set in 1920s England where a gay novelist and his psychiatric nurse grow fond of each other through the course of doctor arrangements. He appears to her at some point and tells her how he had an older friend with whom they took matters into physical sociopath relations and things went out of control afterward when they tried to operate how to resolve their unwelcome emotions towards each other.
Memento International has bought the romance drama film, “Lilies Not for Me” which is directed by Will Seefried and starred Fionn O’Shea and Robert Aramayo, just before its global showcase at Ethe dinburgh Film Festival.
The cast of rising actors also includes Erin Kellyman (“Willow”), Jodi Balfour (“Ted Lasso,” “The Crown”), and Louis Hofmann (“Dark”).
In the drama, “Lilies Not for Me” set up in 1920s England a gay novelist and a psychiatric nurse start off on a journey of a strong bond of love due to their doctor decorations. “Through his memories, he shares with her an account of how he had an old friend who had a deep intimacy with him that they took extreme and reckless measures to end their destructive passions for each other,” the synopsis reads.

Producers Emilie Georges and Naima Abed, who worked on the making of ‘Call Me by Your Name,’ now have a new film called Paradise City, featuring Hannes Otto, Roelof Storm, and Seefried in their beginning production company Wolflight. Aramayo also worked as an executive producer on this film alongside Julia Zak for Cinetic Media, Cindy Gabriel from Giant Films, Vincent Mai, Alessandro Iovino, and Anthony de Rauville. The North American domestic rights are being carried by UTA Independent Film Group.
Seefried is relatively new on the scene with regard to films and was previously a director for the short ‘Homesick’ which screened at SXSW 2022 and others, where it received prestigious film awards. The screenplay of ‘Lilies Not for Me’ was a semifinalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship script competition in the 2021 edition.
The film’s director stated that “Lilies Not For Me” depicts a scenario that “deals with the concept of love triumphing over the concept of fear.”
“The inspiration for this film is based on an era in queer history that is unknown to many, yet its relevance is shocking in modern society,” he continued, hoping that “the film will inspire people to take back the stories that persist in their mind and know that love for self is a revolutionary act.” Seefried is represented by UTA Independent Film Group.
According to Memento International, the ’Lilies Not for Me’ movie depicts love in spite of sad adversity, and its excellent cast makes viewers appreciate a significant tale: society’s expectations and the strength it requires to go against them.”
Besides “Lilies Not for Me,” Memento International’s slate includes Jonás Trueba’s The Other Way Around which is the winner of the Directors’ Fortnight award, and Ryah J.Sloan’s psychological thriller from U.S “Gazer” which is already attracting attention. Presently in the lineup is also Haifaa Al-Mansour’s upcoming movie “Unidentified” which is still under production and others that include Emilie Blichfieldt’s The Ugly Stepsister, The Divine Sarah Bernhardt the biopic of Guillaume Nicloux and Arenas, Camille Perton’s corporate thriller which are in post-production.
