The film is directed by Jeff Wamester and adapted by Jim Krieg, with Krieg, Kimberly S. Moreau as Producers and Butch Lukic, Sam Register, and Michael E. Uslan as Executive Producers. This second part enables us to bring in a more intimate approach to some of the characters, especially Psycho Pirate and Supergirl while also preparing us for what is in store for the third part, the conclusion of the narrative.

As a matter of fact, ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part Two’ is simply a good and entertaining experience. Having said that there is a fair bit about the film that doesn’t quite sit right with the original comic book there are casters where certain moments are added just for added appeal and some key events are changed slightly for entertainment purposes and to fit this depiction of the story. Naturally, no one should expect it to be an exact copy, but given that there are only three parts to this epic saga there are parts that feel like a squandered opportunity.

With that said, we do learn some interesting details about Psycho Pirate and who he is. Some viewers are likely not well acquainted with him and his capabilities, and it was a good, but quite dark, introduction to the character and his background. At this point, it’s fair to say that the film version made up some of the details of his life that were derived from the comic series although with a new perspective, it’s a great addition to the character. What I find interesting about the film adaption is how they invest in character development making you appreciate the character with depth. While I adore the comics personally, I thought that unless you are well acquainted with them beforehand, you are not really invested. Not to mention, some of the character role changes from comics to film make this story different from what we know and love, and not in a negative sense.

One would describe the voice acting as first class, and indeed, all the actors were able to portray their parts in a both realistic and unique manner. We must add the names Meg Donnelly, the Supergirl voice, and Geoffrey Arend, the Psycho Pirate voice. These two ensure the emotional level of the movie and make people worry about these characters.

Admittedly, there is a lot of exposition regarding the schemes and plans that are necessary given the complexity of the story arc, however, there are good periods of action featuring the heroes battling against the villains and also the shadows. The animation style for it, I have to say, I completely adore it. It complements it very nicely. The music composed by Kevin Riepl, in reality, fits perfectly within these scenes and only enhances the emotion and intensity and most importantly, lets the audience feel what is happening. For some reason, these pieces always feel like they supplement the narrative and emphasize the important parts, which they do not seem to.

This adaption really shows a focus on Supergirl too which I liked, her innocence, even her goodness is rather put to the test here as we are reminded of what she has been through to find herself where she is. The other major shifts in the story are adjustments in her story where she is placed in this film and the character role she takes on. I will not give spoilers as to what but there are indeed some notable differences that really enhance emotional impact.

‘Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part Two’ is entertaining but does take much time to build up context around the characters. In some ways, it feels like some of the action and awesome scale of the comics series has been stretched rather thin, but when it does pick up I found myself grinning at some of the action targets. For me personally, a good portion of the bulk of the film did not seem like Crisis but all the same I am enjoying this modern adaptation of a classic which is what we are doing at the moment.

Towards the end, we get a SNEAK PEEK of what’s to come as outdo our heroes go against the anti-monitor and that is more than enough for me to be hyped for the third and final part of the film series. It is going to be an all-out action emotional rollercoaster.
