This has an indie vibe, and it was accomplished well enough. Overall, it is quite entertaining and enjoyable. The script could have used a few minor edits here and there as some sections dragged, but it is a good paranormal mystery. The makeup and the cast’s performance were more than satisfactory, and overall we had much more positive than negative opinions.
A family watches a horror movie from the comfort of their new house on TV. They have recently relocated and do not feel at ease at all. The mother begins to hear odd sounds from upstairs but is met with nothing when she checks. Out of nowhere she sees something outside of the window and screams which leads to credits.
Freddy Nash answers a call, waking up to it. He has an assistant, JY, and works as a private investigator. Nash possesses a gift that allows him to view the deceased. He visits the family he saw earlier. He gets very skeptical after hearing the mother talk about how she casually had a drink or two before seeing the thing last night. She states how there had been a murder in the house, and that’s why she bought the house so cheaply. He can smell the Xanax on her used glass and suggests the children drugged her and must have snuck out last night. The kids say that they were simply trying to scare the mother.
Freddy and JY head to Freddy’s old house. We see Freddy and his son running off to get some ice cream. A car crash takes a turn for the worse and his son dies. Ever since then, he has tried to do good with his powers.
Now we go to Flint, Michigan, where a woman hears voices in her home. The lights start flickering all the abnormal haunted things. She is killed by something.
The following day, Nash receives another call and goes to investigate. He reminisces about Flint and how he used to go visit it. He meets Roberta, the lady who called him regarding her maid’s murder. She informs him that the police are clueless, and the dead woman had no positive relationships.
Roberta shows Nash a video will made by her deceased father. In it, he states to have concealed a treasure, and there are some strange instructions regarding it. Roberta states that she is quite sure that everyone in town is aware of the treasure hunt, but does not know where the item is hidden in the house. Everyone also knows that the house is possessed even their neighbor wrote a novel about it.
Nash goes into the old man’s room and he is certain that he senses something. Almost at once some eerie happenings begin to take place in the room, so he has no doubt that this one might be true. One of Nash’s new neighbors, James, comes over and begins talking to him regarding the shadows of the people that died in the house.
Nash starts questioning the different relatives to find out if any of them had the motive to kill the family member. They stay in a motel, and along with Nash, the family members begin to see a ghost.
So, they visit Debbie who mentions something about the treasure. Perhaps the maid found it which explains her murder. She recounts the story about her brother Jake who used to ‘urban explore’ abandoned places in the vicinity. Jake does not get along with almost anyone.
We cut to the bar, and we see Jake being a drunken idiot. Amid some tussle involving JY while some shots are being fired, Jake spills the beans to Nash. After that, there is a flashback showcasing JY’s skills. Roberta knows that in her family, no one would have harmed the maid. Those have to be the ghosts in the house.
Nash spends some time in the haunted house, and wow, it is haunted. He meets old Mr. Dalton, who talks to him. One of the ghosts knocks Nash out cold. So, they go out to the cemetery to unearth Mr. Dalton’s ex and a box of stock options.
Roberta contacts Jake and Debbie regarding the matter, hoping that Nash will find the treasure and solve the mystery. Nash and YP catch another detective trailing them and stow him in the trunk of their vehicle.
Matthew, Roberta’s husband, seems to have an affair with the dead maid which led to him hanging in the old house, as people suspect. After finding Roberta’s husband, they go to the police, who laugh at him.
JY rolls a blunt for him and tells him that he should live in the moment instead of worrying about other things, but he wants to get to the hospital because his ex-wife happens to be there. After all the blabbering, Nash decides to deal with the case like an adult and finish it off.
The bar owner, whose property got shot up, manages to find Nash and JY’s motel room after the incident. While in pursuit, he runs into JY outside of the haunted house and hears the other detective yelling from the trunk of the vehicle. Once he popped open the trunk, the two directed guns at each other and nuts.
Hearing the gunfire outside of the haunted house gets him back to the place, after all. It looks like both gentlemen aimed and shot at each other and it ends up being a stalemate. For the time being, JY tosses both corpses into the trunk.
Roberta and JY come in and at this point, Nash has already figured out the entire mystery. He explains to her that he discovered the treasure at Dalton’s ex-wife’s grave. Jake walks in and wants to negotiate a split. Nash tells him that both the maid Lynn and Debbie were sleeping with Matthew. Jake’s friend Bill comes in with a gun and demands the treasure, only to discover that the stock was from the Flint City Motor Company and completely worthless.
He admits to killing the maid. He has the upper hand on all of them but moments later ghosts take his attention away. The police then arrive and take Bill and the entire family with them.
