The use of mediocre electric jazz guitar will do as ‘A Man’ has so many flaws, this is how the plot of the western begins. This is sung by Bob Ross and for me personally, it is one of the worst movie songs ever.
This cartoonish movie focuses on a man wanting vengeance. It will reveal further in the upcoming lines but for now, the ganja of cruel guards revealed earlier is no busters. In addition to that, the blue bronco busters is a VHS title rather cringe in my opinion because there are no cowboys in this.
There are many graphics depicting a handful of prisoners being whipped while a free man escapes. His whole life he’s worked for everything and now has finally earned his rest.
Seemingly, younger people who are untrained in the western, born after 78 are not aware of ‘Gone with the West’. Bronco busters are considered to be the title losers and it addresses a genre that they ought not to pick. Judging by the tone, they sound like a genuinely bored person sitting in a bar.
James Can was at the height of his actions film career when he starred in this movie. He plays the role of an ex-con Jud and it seems he gives effortlessly displays his skills as an actor. It is sad to say that he is unable to save this film from being dull but at least he tries to make it watchable to an extent.
This movie also features Stefanie Powers as Little Moon, a girl who acts a bit crazy and lives away from a town she hates. In one scene, she jumps off a rock yelling “Yahoo!” and lands directly on Jud’s head. In retaliation, he gives her his bag of supplies and a mule and honestly does not care that she just attacked him. So naturally, she saves him after that.
Jud comes into a town that is ruled by a powerful villain (Robert Walker) and many of his minions. We can easily exchange his name with Yojimbo as he does seem like one, but instead of being a uniformed person who sets out to do the right thing, he aims to murder everyone in the town and burn it down.
Sammy Davis, Jr., arrives onto the scene in a hip cowboy dandy attire with the clever Kid Dandy label. Unfortunately, he does not add as much to the tale as many would hope.
Many have claimed that there were a lot of black cowboys in the wild west. The sad part is that they have rarely been depicted in cowboy films. So while it is great that the character has been included in the film, there are no bonus points for giving Sammy so little that he has nothing of genuine significance to do within the tale.
Walking with his spurs jingling, Samuel clearly conveys that he is from Las Vegas just for the day’s shoot. The way he rotates the fast-draw twirly-gun from one hand to the other is the epitome of silly. This routine is something he has implemented in his late night talk show appearances, his Vegas acts, and it has no relation to this film.
It’s laughable, but Powers attempts in a highly exaggerated way to dress as a guy and seems like she is trying to roll a huge rock down the hill to amass strength and pull it towards the town. The truth is that she just lacks in strength. While her performance is deeply amusing, it captivates the audience because it adds a layer of intrigue while the audience tries to fathom her identity and the reason behind her mania and my personal favorite, Why does she continuously avoid residing in such a detestable place.
Not only that, but Little Moon brilliantly kite-bombs, performs magic, and balances on her head. With a pair of slingshots around her head, I must admit Powers was able to charm me when she was trying to blow up the horrible town.
I do not wish to undermine the splendid achievements of America, but we have to accept one reality If anyone attempts to convince you that spaghetti westerns are less fictional compared to the westerns of America, you need to provide them with this piece of evidence to show them Americans have invented the most ridiculous western movies.
The shameless ridiculousness that is depicted proves my hypothesis about the western world. The portrayal of absurdity lacks context and depth. As the films joke implies, “You killed everyone except the cameraman”, proves my point.
It is clear that some of the cast members have some skills in other settings, but how they got roped into this stinker, who knows. In spite of all its flaws, I wouldn’t call it unwatchable either, but more like a car crash and it may be said that Bernard Girard has done for the western what Ed Wood did for horror.
