I may simply not be the right age for this. I think I would have cherished the light-to moderate amount of nudity which this contains, some time back during my unrefined stage. As I am now, my flaws happen to be superseding my merits. Perhaps, it is because I happened to doze off while taking Dayquil. Truth be told, I found the act of coughing up mucus to be rather enjoyable.
In essence, it happens in the so-called Monique (Love) ‘brothel’. I use the quotation marks because this place looks a lot more like someone’s home. There is an incoming party of high rollers who are supposed to spend a few thousand dollars which, for the life of me, I do not understand why they come here as the staff are no more than ‘somewhat attractive’ and you could probably catch better fish with a bottle of Jager in your average night-club on a Friday evening. But I’ll set my doubts aside for the moment. It turns out this ‘party’ is actually a criminal gang who rob the place and abuse the women in the process.
Needless to say, they’re not standing for that. So, Kitty (Nguyen), Trix (Amber), Beretta (Valentine) and the rest of the girls ride out with murder in their eyes in order to recover the ill-gotten gains and punish the wrongdoers. Luckily, the gang have turned out to be less organized as they assumed. Nothing is ever that easy though.
It’s possible that there’s an intrigue within the organization that prefers to conceal herself, allowing her fellow associates to do the dirty work, as the end result benefits the rest of the survivors much more.
Everything is just painstakingly subpar. Not least the attempts at comedic relief, like the gangster kingpin Rivera mocking the complaints being droned for so long by the lost ski mask clad ninja that it really does become the most boring form of entertainment. And the repetitive use of sound effects from the television series, ‘The Six Million Dollar Man,’ should have been ceased during the beginning stages of creation. The pacing is in general abysmal and leads me to thoughts that the vast majority of the actresses involved are more talented in the adult film industry rather than on Broadway. Well, Love and Nguyen are somewhat believable and decent enough to walk whilst articulating. Other, not so much. Let’s put it this way.
I think there were a few parts in the action that achieved some sort of success. Although I’m not so sure how much sense they could be said to make, e.g, one of the women suddenly pulling a flaming sword out of, well, I am not even going to hazard a guess at that. But whenever you want to watch the subtle hints left in an Andy Sedaris film, there is no doubt that there is a problem. Perhaps it could’ve been better enjoyed with alcohol but I’m sure that wouldn’t have worked well with the medications I was on. Not a risk I was prepared to take, at least.
