Mark Wilkinson shot a movie called “Dischord” which he also wrote, directed, produced, and edited, in under three weeks on a shoestring budget, mostly on Cape Cod. It is a clear product of Mr. Wilkinson’s dedication and his cast’s effort. I would be more than grateful to leave it as is that the movie exists and that it was made for the effort’s sake. However, now that Exposure has done Mr. Wilkinson and the people of New York and Los Angeles the ambiguous favor of releasing Dischord, I fear I have to touch on the matter further.
the lyrics are so deep and melancholic, while her basslines are very similar to the WIRE songs. I also love Nikko and Mary’s chopped-up guitars. It gives me the best of both worlds. I’m shocked by their immense talent and the ethereal feeling interlaced with a sense of urgency that they are capable of creating. This is a vinyl compilation of all the best songs from the CD that was released a few years ago. It includes all of the appendixes and a few other unreleased gems like the brilliant cover of the Nintendo classic, “Paper Boy”. This is the mixtape that lives in the deepest corners of my mind, the one that always played in the back of my head when I was walking around town with my Walkman ready at hand, skating and reading about the endless and eccentric DC punk scene in Erin Smith’s Teenage Gang Debs and Tobi Vail’s Jigsasw fanzines, wishing that I was teleported to a time and place where teenage girls knew who DEAD MOON and the WIPERS were.
A world-renowned alternative rock violist named Gypsy which is actually Annunziata Gianzero has ceased to perform for reasons unknown and has retreated to her husband’s childhood summer house. The husband is Lucian Andrew Borba who is an infamous new-age composer. While Lucian has works titled ‘Inspired’ and ‘The City of Night’, he is hardly what one would consider relaxed. Although, Lucian’s brother Jimmy, who is much worse, is a killer waiting for an extended visit. In the meantime, Dick Bakalyan, a retired detective who quite desperately trying to land a role as Peter Falk’s understudy in a roadshow version of Columbo starts to poke around and ask questions.
There is also, a lot of unfitting inspirational music. The story is as full of incident and implication as it is nonsensical and impossible to act. And so the actors, when not bursting into fits of temper, smile incomprehensibly.
As sloppy as editing was the writing was badly proofread. It looks like dull scissors were used to cut the scenes and reassemble them with glue sticks. Gypsy says that Lucian is“self-possessed’’, while she actually means “self-obsessed”. Both descriptions might fit Ms. Gianzero’s performance. Rather too disturbing calmness that my performance is supposed to be a very strange form of creative bliss. After some really dreadful deaths, Gypsy spins around the room with a violin as if all that madness had brought her back to her imagination.
