I enjoyed Blood Bonds a bit more than Savage Bonds. In this book, we finally get to see a glimpse of what these characters are and what they can do. In addition, I enjoyed seeing more of her bonds and how they interact with one another.
Oli is still annoying, and I don’t see why her bonds are in love with her. All she does is complain about being overpowered, but aren’t there more dangerous people out there than her? Why isn’t she using her powers to, I don’t know, fight the resistance?
I remember how much Bree centered Ollie’s bond in Blood Bonds and in turn her power and the powers of the other bonds. I can’t say I understand how all the mechanics work, but it’s kind of awesome. The entire overpowered version of a character trope is getting stale, and I just need Oli to take control of her powers. I mean just accept it and put a stop to the war or whatever mess is going on with the resistance. Because yes, we have no clue why the resistance exists and what the heck they are resisting. Honestly, I have no idea what the point of these books is, lol.
Oleander gets closer to two of her bonds, in this chapter (yes it can be quite hard to understand, and I will probably do a different post explaining the different definitions of the word ‘bond’). Now I understand why everyone picks up these books, right? Narrative is out of the equation, and let’s be honest, there really isn’t one. But everyone is here for the smut the slow burn and the angst. How sad is it that this is the reason why I, too, continue to read this book series.
But! In Blood Bonds, multiple POVs are available! I absolutely loved this part. It made the narration more richer and intricate. I adored experiencing the perspective of North, Gryphon, Atlas, Gabe, Nox, and the others.
That cliffhanger, in my honest opinion, was fine. I expected it, but at the same time, I am questioning whether what we have learned could actually be true or is just something put in there for the sake of drama. My gut tells me the latter, but we will have to see.
I guess I will read the last book in the series, but I don’t feel particularly confident. Out of the 3 books I have read, not a single book has a plot. The only commendable aspect of this series is the romance, which is good at best. Be warned, though, romance fans. It takes quite some time before the book stops flirting and actually shows some romance. Shippers, prepare for a slow burn.
