After a computer hacker opens an advanced program with an Artificial Intelligence AI Mimic Entity AiMee, she slowly takes over his life and attempts to eliminate everyone who stands in her way.
Charles Band, the founder of Full Moon Entertainment, is known for always looking for the next big thing in the entertainment industry and technology. He had pioneered the home video boom market by launching his own video distribution business in 1978 and profiting from the short-lived 3D craze in the early ’80s, not to mention how much attention Full Moon’s film Arcade earned in 1993 for featuring an excessive amount of CGI. It is no wonder that he is the director of the movie that features “the first AI-built femme fatale in film history”. AiMee, the title character in the new Full Moon project AiMee: The Visitor.
Scripted by Roger Barron (actually a pseudonym for the Thirteen Ghosts screenwriter Neal Marshall Stevens, who has also gone as Benjamin Carr while writing for Full Moon), the film features Dallas Schaefer as the terribly woman-hating no, more like world-hating computer hacker Scott Keyes, who stays locked up in his filthy cave of an apartment and spends his days gorging on junk food and watching adult films when he isn’t hacking, that is His older friends Hunter (Felix Merback) and Gazelle (Faith West) live right beside him. This arrangement means that all 68 minutes of the movie can focus on this one bland apartment complex. The movie starts when Hunter and Gazelle deliver a “key to the Black Strand Alpha source code” to Keyes and for some reason, that lets AOI unlock.
Keyes is immediately captivated by the artificial intelligence program’s dazzling redhead figure that offers to refer to him as her master. She claims that she is solely meant to serve him, making his life more productive. Since he is a chronic masturbator, she also wishes to assist him attain higher orgasmic thresholds which involves supplying him with deepfake footage of himself participating in sexual activities, like threesomes with pornstars Liz Jordan and Lexi Lore.
Full Moon explains that Aimee translates to the Advanced Intimate Model of Euphoric Entertainment, and that is why she devotes herself to pleasing Keyes. There is, however, more development to the character and Band and Barron did not shy away from that. When two men in black are walking about claiming this to be a “case study of Aimee’s effectiveness in the wild,” it is evident that the events will unfold in an unfavorable manner for Keyes and his associates.
The main selling point for Aimee The Visitor is that the title character was created using modern AI technology, the movie even begins with this. A caption states, “Aimee herself is not portrayed by an actor and neither was she created by means of special effects makeup.” That is impressive or ominous depending on your view of AI, but for the average viewer, I don’t think it will amount to much knowing she was an AI and not a CGI-created character. Barron did a good job writing for Keyes and the others, making the character interesting and threatening at the same time.
Full Moon films are often a niche, but Aimee The Visitor is an exceptional low-budget thriller. I feel like this movie has a bigger market than the usual tiny terror horror films and Evil Bong Gingerdead Man horror comedies that Full Moon is famous for. It is a simple story with few characters, few settings, and even fewer locations, but Band and Barron put together an entertaining story and I really enjoyed the Aimee as she schemed her way into trying to destroy Keyes’ life.
