Daniel Raboldt (Spam Attack The Movie (Short), Furple Reign (Short) a German writer and director, delivers his first Sci-Fi movie spanning over an hour, and it’s definitely a jaw dropper. This film has undergone crowdfunding and greatly gathered funds amounting to €12,000, money which he utilized in a fine manner.
Scholarly critiques claim A New World Order is by far the most engaging Sci-Fi motion picture made in the last decade. It is unique in a perspective that there is no dialogue between the two characters, an engaging idea that makes the characters greatly detailed in their body language. The special effects, just like any Hollywood Sci-Fi film, are as well executed as any decent film out there. The tension that Raboldt creates is so tangible that you will be holding your breath and keeping quiet throughout this feature.
All you can see is several trees surrounding an isolated man and his car in a long road. He seems to have been through a lot, considering that his hand is bandaged and he is bloodied. As he pulls over, he notices something, a log cabin. Our guy (Stefan Ebel) is battling an era of a war that is found to be losing, and he is on the run so it’s quiet around him.
While scoping the surroundings of the house, he grabs his laser rifle which comes with a certain amount of risk. Confirming that all the doors are locked inside the house, Tomasz the clever man overwhelmingly finds a key which makes him sneak inside. Much to his dismay, he is not alone in the house as he runs into the previous occupants in an upstairs room. After leaving them there, he is finally sure that he is alone. Now he can set up the perimeter to protect the van, the house and himself.
Tomasz’s coping mechanism comes in the form of substance abuse. After reliving the gruesome memories from the front line, drugs become his escape. It is all thanks to Dr Carnap (Nikolai Will, White Pillow, Sex & Crime) upgrading the Mark 7 rescue robot to a level it could easily hunt down humanity. His, and many others, amushed silence explain the eerie nature from the start of the film.
The fencing he set up around the house to ward off the robots no longer appears effective, so now he has to update his policies when he wakes the next day, he is shocked to learn one of the stakes has shifted, and upon meticulously examining it, it becomes apparent the barrier is switched off. Gradually making sense of the scenario, he starts to turn the sticks to the bottom part of the barrier, but as he is applying the final one, the fencing gives way, and someone out of the cornfields strikes him. There are no boundaries to what she says – a woman determined to kill all the robots. This one had been fighting in the resistance, and this house had served her as a hiding place. Moreover, now does anybody trust anybody anymore?
A New World Order is guaranteed to raise eyebrows as much as it builds tension because without answers along the lines of ‘will people die?’ ‘What kind of question is that?’ Why bother watching it? To certify ones trust in the movie is by all means worth it, but I cannot advise it for the faint-hearted or sensitive because it takes Akira Toriyama as bad as we could possibly imagine.
I elicit the same feeling as during the War of the Worlds novels while Stephen tries to dodge a million questions left unanswered achieves engaging in a dozen different emotions, particularly that core chakra in the face of false prophets. You never know, the direction is damning.
