The preceding everything from the getting fame has come over to the direction of Adios Amigo by Nahas Nazar where there is a lot of focus on the gap between the rich and the poor. One would assume that within the two idling and pointless men, there would be something more with a span of over 160 minutes. Unfortunately, all that remains with us are scant minute fragments the movie repetitively introduces to us from the very onset.
When two men of completely different walks of life bump into one another at a bus terminal, they begin an unconventional excursion, all the while the bus’s endpoint seems to be constantly evolving. The title was given for some unknown reason at the end of the movie. The poor man (Suraj Venjaramoodu) is, for some reason, is restlessly trying to fund his critically ill mother’s hospitalization while the wealthy man (Asif Ali), already typecasted as a drunkard, is on yet another purposeless non-stop boozing escapade, set out to spend a fortune.
From the very beginning, it was clear that these two people were going to travel and remain in each other’s company till the very end. Though, in order to continue the trip, the unfortunate man who blindly embarks on this journey with his sick mother in the hospital, does not tell the rich gentleman about his desire for during daylight hours. All this, while being there for him when he is busy spending money on all and sundry on the journey.
The screenplay for Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha was written by Thankam, and like every other Indian film, it includes a narrative where not a single event unfolds for long periods. There are long bus rides, boat rides, and even an overnight stay at a hotel, but at no point does anything of importance occur apart from a few gags attempting to be funny. In fact, the only non-dynamic thing which happened, was meeting a textile shop employee Anagha, who in essence described the rich man’s history; it was indeed one of the very heart touching aspects in this otherwise emotionless movie. But other than this, throughout the whole movie, all that we are informed about him is that he has been a constant headache for the family, abusing all the money he received from his father.
