In this issue, we begin with a movie analysis of the film “Golden Treasure.” The young girl in the film seems to be in a hopeless and mournful episode of her life. To elaborate, the mother goes through great lengths to stop the girl from being noticed or identified. She resembles a mummy covered in rolls of gauze. The rest of the family is no better either. Like Jack, the father who seems to enjoy boosting her self esteem by teaching her to smoke cigarettes and drink vodka. In truth, she finds it quite unappealing.

But now, it becomes remarkable when the girl has her first period. Her mother attempts to make it as less of a fuss as possible. It results in her locking the doors in hopes to avoid a scenario where the neighbors are told about it. While this is all happening, Father Jack is very much a parent. He dabbles a lot in wrestling and unfortunately for him, he has always won. This means that for 10 years, he has had no competition. But people can be cruel, and mock him for not having a son, which gets under his skin.

An unexpected family change seems imminent. Jack’s wife is pregnant with their third child, a daughter, and Jack is heartbroken. To cope with the despair, Jack makes claims to everyone that he is the father of a son. Jack has been wanting a son for so long that he starts integrating himself into his daughter Jane’s life by dressing her in boy clothes. In addition, Jack is determined to beat Jane into submission so that she unwittingly relinquishes all claims of being a girl.

Jack’s beliefs regarding gender roles are unconventional, to say the least, and it reflects in how he chooses to raise Jane. He allows his five year old daughter to drink vodka and smoke dry cigarettes, all in the name of tough love. Jane seems to be thriving under the unconventional rules. She has become so adept at acting like a boy that no one dares to question whether she is or not. In fact, her best friend, Lily, is interested in getting engaged to her. On the other hand, Lily has set her sights on Rey, a handsome young man with money to throw around. Too bad for Lily, Rey is the son of Tom, Jack’s biggest rival.

At that moment, Rey makes a rather unexpected finding. He sees both Lily and Jane spying on him. Rey is not yet comfortable with the picture of the wiry teenager, and so, poses a question to Jane: ‘can you ride a horse’? For now, Rey is in the lead, but before long, the horse throws him off so that he lands on the ground. Sure enough, this makes Lily laugh out loud. Jane takes advantage of the opportunity, rides the horse with confidence, and sends forth a remarkable view by taking the whip in an assertive manner. Rey is left a bit stunned by this their interaction in reality. But when Jane gets off the horse, it leads to another argument between them.

On the other hand, Jane’s father is furious. He is averse to contact with foes, yet more importantly, he is adamant about ensuring that Jane’s identity does not get exposed. In pain and rage, she leaves the house and moves towards the mountains. In the mountains, she opens a wooden box, takes out a hair tie, puts on some lip color, and changes into a beautiful purple dress. Jane now looks like a fairy. This is Jane’s disguising sanctuary a place to which she retreats so that she can look like the girl that she truly is. It is a concealed drawer that every girl has filled with things she wishes to own, but does not.

To Jane’s surprise, there is yet another version of her that has emerged in the form of masculine clothes, and has a deep engaging conversation with her from within. The other Jane feels the weight of not wanting to ruin the dreams of their father, while the other in women’s attire wants to be brave enough to be herself once again. As she carefully sets her locks with a pearl hairpin, she thinks if it makes her look better. One question captures the attention what does Rey think? Will she receive praise for her beauty? It happens that after all those years of competition, Jane happens to have a crush on Rey. Still, she knows perfectly well that even if he was a woman, she would not make a pass at her as a man.

Returning home, Jane’s parents are just leaving to see their newly born grandson. “Just don’t get into any trouble,” her father warns her. Later in the evening, Jane prepares for bed, gazing at the starry night and smiling as she takes off her clothes and gets ready for the women’s outfit. She starts getting ready to go take a ride into the mountains and runs into Rey by coincidence. Rey, who is being dragged unwillingly into a marriage with Lily by his parents, storms off on his motorcycle. They seem to be going in the same direction, so he *flies* off on the bike. Rey plans to go swim, but when he reaches the water, there is already a woman in the water that he did not expect. He is shocked by how stunning she is and hates how quickly he realizes who it was.

Rey comes to Jane’s rescue as she is getting bullied by Rey’s friends. He even assists Jane when she is having trouble walking and seems to trip over her feet. At one point, Jane notices Rey hiking into a cave and assumes he is going in to help get the first aid kit for her. At this point, Jane does not want much assistance, but Rey still pushes the issue. At some point, Jane sees Rey removing the adhesive strips and for a moment they lock eyes and do not need words to express how they feel. It wasn’t truly a moment of clarity but it was certainly a step in the right direction. At this stage of their friendship, Jane’s outward actions towards Rey do not matter because she knows he is now ready to go out on secret dates.

From then on, Rey can be seen openly praising Jane’s appearance when she is dressed in feminine outfits and further suggesting that she starts to wear those outfits more. This marks the beginning of frequent trips to the mountains together which turns into a habit. Unfortunately their short-lived happiness takes a nose dive. Lily feels that Rey is beginning to pull away from her and starts to stalk him. This ends with Lily following him to the mountains, but she is shocked with the new development.

A few people have started saying that Jane’s dad, Jack, has a son rather than a daughter. At the behest of Lily, Jane’s friends try to get to the bottom of this by attempting to strip her down. Luckily, Rey appears right before they are able to harm Jane. Meanwhile, Lily goes to great lengths trying to get Jane and Rey’s secrets out into the open. Jane is in pain and angry, sobbing and asking why she cannot be with someone she loves or why she cannot have a child.

Rey is only able to gift Jane with warm hugs which set her at ease, along with sweet words. Back at home, Jane sees her parents are back however, to her dismay, her mother’s face is bruised again.

Recalling his father’s warning about staying at home, Jane was worried what would happen if he heard the rumors before her. She quickly set off to make sure that didn’t happen. A few days later, Jane and Rey met at the mountains. He asked if they should elope but Jane was unable to say yes because of her mother’s condition. Hesitating, she said no. Later, she decided to live as a man for the rest of her life. She told Rey her plans and he promised to wait for her.

What did I just watch it feels like this woman was forced to act against her free will. So all of this is wrong with the modern approach to parenting like trying to brainwash children into being something they’re not. She was so emotionally broken he simply made her stare at a hairpin until her mind went blank, suppressing anger comes at an unfortunate price always there to blow up at the most inappropriate moments.

She did not change, she picked a fight with her mother yelling at her, getting followed by her grandmother into a room and then to be told that women can not do men roles, as easily as that her father could have burned her with alcohol. I mean, jack was not ashamed by how he invents all sorts of terrible lies to justify terrible things like whether or not jane goes out like his sister, he just pretends it never happens.

While Jane’s life was continuing where already suffering from that disgusting woman, Rey decided to take things into his own hands because never in a million years did he think jack would turn out to become one of those parents that let themselves go on such extremes. Breaking in, he headed for Jane’s parents, begging them to cooperate. They never talked.

Jane sobbed to her mother about how much she adored Rey and how much he loved her in return. All she ever wanted was to have a regular life. Mother and daughter shed tears as they shared a deep connection. The following day, Jane’ sister went directly to their father, while Rey was looking for Jack. Rey wanted something and he didn’t care what it cost he would tell everyone Jane’s truth if she didn’t escape. Jack’s anger got control of him and he shoved Rey to the ground. The thought of his son being the cause of strife within a crowd sent him into a fury. But after his rage subsided, he rekindled a lot of memories of Jane that made him recognize her as his daughter.

Jane thrived as a child and sought ever so deeply to care and please her father. “I can literally drink five bottles of vodka in one gulp, and hug you after” she once jestingly said while her inner child dealt with suffocating sadness. Jack, coming out of his daze, knew he needed to get to the dungeon to save Jane. To his surprise, his spouse had already saved her. Jane and Rey were jubilant, and their joyous marriage was sealed. A year later, Jane gave Jack a son, and all three family members were truly overjoyed. For Jack, this was a momentous occasion and it brought tears to his eyes the family had been blessed with a son, a gift from God.

Jack and Jane have now held hands together, turning heads in their bright new clothing style, and are sure to walk on the earth joyfully. This wraps up their extraordinary saga, a journey fueled by love and unparalleled metamorphosis.
