The next dinosaur-themed movie from producer and director Scott Jeffrey within two weeks (the first was Dinosaur Hotel) is Hatched. In Hatched obsessive scientist Simon (Thomas Loone) is shown to have invented a way to bring dinosaurs back to life. Big mistake (obviously). His creations break free from their confines and devour him, along with his wife Christine (Amanda-Jade Tyler), leaving only his son Mark alive.
Entering into this mess is Simon’s family, who decided that today is the day they would like to visit their estranged family member. This doesn’t end well (again). Simons’s family finds him dead, ingested by his own creations with only a mark remaining. Only supposedly Mark shouldn’t be alive. Yes, Jeffrey and the company have taken the twist from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and added it here. Hatched seems to me like it was directly inspired by the Spielbergian franchise and something of a possible prequel to Dinosaur Hotel chiefly because the CGI dinosaurs are identical to those in Jeffery’s other movie.
Of course, the army is called in along with their chief scientist, because dinosaurs aren’t meant to wander the English countryside, and they need to be restrained and neutralized before they reach the city and cause complete chaos.
Like I said before, Hatched does feel very much related to Dinosaur Hotel. These two are also incredibly similar to stalk and slash movies but with dinosaurs instead of lunatics.
Seems a lot has changed since Jeffrey Scott’s other adventure, Medusa, and I hate to admit it but Jeffery has outdone himself. From clashing family dynamics, immense loss, and bone-crushing grief, all set to the background of unforgiving dinosaurs brog. I wonder, how did Megan Purvis manage to start next to Scott Jeffrey?
I get the feeling that Hatched heavily revamped the efforts put into Dinosaur Hotel, and for the better might I add. Not only does it give more polish than this producer’s logo, but it makes me question if Asylum is experiencing tougher competition. Having seen what kind of budget Geofrey used, it does deserve a pat on the back. The film does seem like an ancient Syfy monster movie and given all of Jeffery’s other works, it is a huge leap of growth. It makes me reminisce about having an especially rough day and comforting myself by sipping on hot cocoa. No matter the reason, it’s a simple solution to a stressful world, and that is something Scott gets right every time.
