Buck Livingston was a sporty cowboy who fled from God, but after a tragic event leaves him dazed and confused, he instead started to believe in seeking God, even though everyone tells him that there is no such thing as a Christian cowboy. But still, Buck commits his entire life to serving God and the church. Although he had always been passionate about cowboy sports, he struggled with finding a way to serve God in that field. Ultimately, Buck’s life was greatly impactful to all those around him.
Unlike earlier JC Films projects, there is an element of respect in the production of Nail 32. This encompasses the video quality and the camera work, especially during the action sports scenes. Nonetheless, there are some odd lighting choices throughout as the film seems to attempt to achieve some sort of vintage look. Nevertheless, the sets, locations, and props are terrific and show remarkable historical accuracy. Additionally, this production, while good, is mostly marred by awkward fadeouts, choppy editing, and scenes that lag. Regardless of my criticism, this project is still above average.
This captivating true story was intended to be an epic retelling, but it became difficult to absorb with all the unnecessary hand-holding narrations. The life of the protagonist is depicted in fragments as a sequence of events which lacks depth and multi-dimensional characters. The characters are trapped due to faster-than-normal crude dialogues, which makes the story feel rushed and incoherent as there is so much tension placed in such a short amount of time. As much as this movie had the right intentions, we never got the chance to really understand them as people as the climax was rushed. There is definitely something here, but it is not met fully.
However, this area does have a lot of good information, such as good costumes that help increase the realism of the film and some solid performances. The acting falls a bit flat due to mumbled words and muted emotions, but the cast is mostly fine with some being better than others. In terms of emotions, it was adequate; in terms of delivery and lines, they passed, which makes this an average movie.
The filmmakers behind Nail 32 portray a true story, thus, it has a good premise. These movies are domestically made and very forward-thinking, but they are not exceptionally immersive. To achieve that epic Hollywood-style presentation, the writers need to put extra effort into all aspects, especially the plot. The movie attempts to deal with so much at once, yet fails to balance it with proper character development. Sometimes it is best to try and narrow down the time frame that you wish to portray. Overall, Nail 32 is an average movie that still leaves you wishing for more.
