Would you ever have imagined that my first encounter with a Full Moon Features film didn’t occur until just a few years back? Ever since I have been trying to watch as many films made by the company as I can. One of the final films on my list was Ken Dixon’s Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity.
Following a close call, Daria and Tisa are forced to land on a new planet where they are greeted by possibly a friendly Zed and his android hosts. However, it doesn’t take long for the girls to come to terms with the fact that they are only a plaything to Zed in his twisted universe.
My favorite films come from all periods of Full Moon’s history but every single future era pales in comparison to the 80s. There is something about the late 80s and early 90s where Charles Band and Co. seemed like they were producing actual masterpieces worthy of the cult followings and cult fans they had gained over the years, unlike the films they started producing in later years.
Coming to my favourite part, Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity, released in 1987, is definitely not one of those boring sci-fi films. Along with a strong and enjoyable plot, it has well-designed sexy women that serve more purpose than just being a pretty face. Oh and did I mention, that the script was well executed and thankfully not too cheesy?
Our main protagonists Tisa and Daria are portrayed by Cindy Beal and Elizabeth Kaitan ( Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood) respectively. They are not only astonishingly beautiful but also very smart.
During the course of the film which is only 74 minutes long, one can see the pair flying exotic spaceships, setting up rigged explosives in the Zed jungle maze, and even shooting some heavy machinery. It is very different from what Full Moon would put out today!
Both Beal and Kaitan do a fair job with their characters, but the passion and brilliance shown for Zed‘s character by Don Scriber was quite commendable. The part is half, and Brinke Stevens is the other half of the most popular Scream Queen. With this duo, you get an exceptionally complete 80s theme cast that all fans of the genre will adore.
Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity possesses subservient androids, creatures like zombies, and other aliens. Thankfully all are created using practical make-up effects and designs, some of which were done by the late great John Carl Buechler.
The filmography of Full Moon Features is decidedly immense, but this one stands out the most. The intriguing and visually engaging Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity is fully realized by talented actors, an inventive script, and the presence of many half-naked toast-worthy women sporting alluring figures, aliens, monsters as well as robots. Truly what more does one need?
They have had Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity on Blu-ray and mobile streaming on Full Moon Direct. Do yourself a favour and pop some beers, grab a couple of hefty friends, and watch this sexy iconic Sci-Fi flick.
